When my son was 13 I walked in on him wearing one of my thongs. I didn’t say anything and just walked out. We never talked about it and he wore mine all through high school. I don’t think he knew that I knew except for that one time, but I was curious if it was a one time thing so I would peek at him getting dressed from time to time, and it would always be one of my thongs.

My 7 year old son likes to wear girls clothes including underwear. We are currently going through a state where he is finding they don’t fit as well in areas like boys clothes and undies do. I’ve just had to have the conversation that they’ve been made for girls who don’t have the same bits and body shape as you do. I’ll support him with whatever he wants to wear but it does frustrate me that we still have gender specific sections in stores…

What is ‘normal!?
My (23yr old) son wears a mix of CK boxes, and black lacey satin undies.
My (14yr old) daughter will only wear men’s boxes, she says they’re the comfiest!
My (20yr old) son only wears boxes also.

Unfortunately these are all indicators of a very problematic environment, especially indicated by middle child trying to give the appearance of normality.

It's not typical, but some kids like to take on aspects of the other gender. Don't worry about it, but do talk to a counsellor if the idea worries you.
The most important thing is that your son knows you love him no matter what. Imagine if he tried to hide it or hated himself for it. That would be the worst.

Ps bras n things have a range of lingerie cut for men's bodies .

FFS. You are the worst for suggesting this abnormal behaviour be enabled.

Forget a counsellor for her, all she needs to do is be honest with herself and her son, call him out and just say NO, STOP YOUR BS, it's not right or normal.

Can you tell me more about your comment of B&T? I've been there a few times (1 time with partner, 2nd time on her behalf).

I wear undies (yes she knows!), with target brand size 18 fitting best (full le gth).

Can I wear girl's underwear

ANSWER

Yes. Underwear is underwear. Even many adult men prefer women’s underwear because they are cut better and more comfortable. Don’t read into it, just let him wear what he likes.

Absolutely no problem at all. Let him. Even buy him some to show you support him. I think it's beautiful

It's normal for kids to express themselves, through hair, clothing or music. It's their body, their choice unless it is causing physical harm in some way (too small or tight)
If you are concerned he might get bullied in school because of a clothing choice tell him to let you know if it ever happens so you can support him but I'd say its unlikely as most kids nowadays are very supportive of each others choices

Anything someone wants to do/wear is normal. Just let him be him

I've put my 3 year old in his sisters undies when he has run out (11 month gap & same size). It's not really an issue until their package is too big to be contained in them, once they are too big I'd say it wouldn't be good for them as I'd imagine it would hurt or possibly could cause some damage. You can get girls boxers etc if it's the colours/patterns he likes. There is nothing homosexual about liking 'female colours/patterns', hell my housemate is as straight as they get, is 20yrs old and even he loves his pink beanie.

You set normal for your home. Maybe talk to him. As a parent they should talk to you and you should understand their reason. Maybe your son is exploring maybe he is understanding himself. Talking and supporting them in these teenage year is going to help you both built a strong bond as well.

Remove the word normal. Try a problem. Then that is subjective. Problem for who? The underwear manufacturer? They don't care who buys them. Then it comes the boy. He obviously does not care they are designed for a different gender. So why should we care when he thinks it is fine. It is underwear. No one sees it. It makes him happy. Still think it is wrong? That is your prejudice. Do not force it on this boy.

ANSWER

That would be a no from me. Girls underwear isn’t designed to fit boys and their packages. If he was little than that’s different, or if he has sensory issues and it’s a fabric thing. But at 16 I would be questioning why he likes to wear it.

Doesn't if it wrong or right, he should have the choice and it shouldn't be a big issue or a taboo topic, my girls like wearing the boys undies. #wearwhateveryouwanttowear..

There is nothing to be concerned over. Boys can like things marketed towards girls and vice versa! Maybe he preferred that colour or picture. Children aren't making life long choices over their sexuality. They like something so they choose it.

My 7 year old insists I call his jocks nickers and sits down to wee more often than not. He likes dolls but also trains 🤷‍♀️ his favourite colour used to be pink and now it’s yellow. He loves playing footy and his older brother knows not to tease him or risk being punched up! No labels here. I’ve asked him in gentle ways if he feels like a boy or a girl and he has looked at me like I was mad. I think it’s wonderful that kids feel safe to truly be themselves. For context I also have a 27 year old and the changes in attitude since he was the same age have been mind boggling yet very welcome.
