I was scrolling through Instagram this morning and something I saw made my eyes hurt.. What the actual f?!!!!!!!
The Instagram world was shook when Portland-based nail artist Asa Bree posted a photo of her work – an incredibly accurate vagina nail art.
According to an article by Buzzfeed, the vagina nail art was done on T Ngu, one of Asa’s regular clients. She owns a shop in Portland near Finger Bang.
T Ngu’s shop is called Project Object. It aims to support women, lqbtq and people of colour and to send a message about certain issues through art.
Project Object is soon to host Meggyn Pomerleau, the illustrator of The Post-Structuralist Vulva Coloring Book. Asa and T Ngu have been talking about doing a vagina themed mani for a while. What better time to make a statement than now?
People have been going crazy about the vagina nails ever since it was posted. Some find it impressive while others think it’s gross and disgusting. T Ngu is just glad that the photo has caught the internet’s attention and they were able to spark a discussion.
“It’s a female body part, and I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed of…It’s definitely a conversation piece that focuses the light on so many issues,” she said. “From art, women’s rights, acceptance, self-love, and learning to love another person for who they are and not what you want them to be.”
I’m going to admit that I cringed at first (it’s not everyday you see vaginas on nails) but seeing it a few times more… you have to admit, it’s pretty badass. The glittery purple gel manicure with the impressive accents on each hand are extremely detailed – it took 2 hours to finish! It’s feminine, cute and beautiful. It’s also really empowering for women. #pussypower
