What would you do if you found out you were having quintuplets? ….Yes, that’s five babies!
Would you, cry? Throw up? Sit silently? Cry some more?
Yeah, I would be the cryer. Well at first. Then I would force a smile before crying again, but this time with a more happy sob rather than a ‘omg, how am I going to care for five babies’ sob.
Just think about it. That’s five nappies to change, five mouths to feed, five baths to give, five cots to buy, not to mention the mini van and seven storey house you will need. Oh my, I think contraception is on the cards tonight…. sorry husband!
Anyway, enough jokes because this is an incredible story of a mother who has just found out she had naturally fallen pregnant with quintuplets, a miracle that has only occurred twice in the last 35 years.
Kim, 26 from Western Australia, had been trying to conceive a third child but encountered difficulties, yahoo.com reported today. But after finding out about the five little heartbeats, it was her reaction that has us sent us all ‘awwwwwwing’ with glee!
“I was about 7 days past ovulation, my suspicion of a possible multiple pregnancy grew due to the quick rise of the pregnancy hormone,” Kim said.
“I was excited at the possibility of twins but absolutely nothing on this earth could have prepared me for what happened next.”
An ultrasound revealed one, then two, and finally five heartbeats.
“My legs start to shake uncontrollably and all I can do is laugh,” she said.
Yes, laugh!
I suppose it is quite funny!
At 12 weeks, Kim has posted on her page that all babies are doing well.
“Poor things are already starting to look squashed,” she posted.
While the gender of the babies are unknown at this stage, Kim said some of the babies may be identical.
Kim plans to give birth at Perth’s King Edward Memorial Hospital.
