Mums would do anything for their child — and this mum is no exception especially for her transgender daughter.
Mum-of-five Erica Maison, from Detroit Michigan, can’t wait for the day when her transgender daughter, 14-year-old Corey can start her hormone therapy — something she had been waiting for more than two years.
In the video, which Ms Maison filmed herself, Corey can be seen sitting on a couch as her mum tells her to reach behind. As she reaches for it, she gets a black plastic bag with something inside. As she peeks into the bag, she finds a box filled with estrogen pills and immediately bursts into tears before hugging her mum.
Ms Maison captioned the video:
“Today after waiting 2 1/2 years she FINALLY got her estrogen. I picked it up while she was in school so she had no idea. We have been waiting months for the readiness letter to be finalized and sent to Chicago, so had no idea on a timeline of when it would actually happen. Sorry I had to stop recording because we were both blubbering sobbing fools LOL. September 24th is a day I will remember for the rest of my life!”

Ms Maison told the Daily Mail that Corey was ‘always feminine’ when she was younger and was totally inspired when she came across a video of Jazz Jennings, a transgender YouTube star. That was when she decided that being a girl is the kind of life she wants.
Ms Maison then researched for therapists who work with transgender children that led her to the gender clinic at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Corey was soon given a $21,000 puberty-suppressing implant that was fully covered by their insurance. Their therapist and the hospital’s medical team agreed that Corey could start hormone therapy in August when she turned 14 — and that great day came.
Erica recalled of the moment, which she also shared on Facebook:
We were both crying and shaking. She literally took my breath away, as she has never given me a hug like that before. I have never felt so much love from her than that moment. It was a mixture of pure joy and relief from us both,” she said.
