A woman in the US has shaved and tattoed her head to support her mother who completed chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer, who also decided to get the same tattoo.
Victoria Vargas, 21, from Texas, and her mother Veronica Quintanilla, from El Paso, decided to get a matching pink bow tattoo on their scalp which were captured in a photo last month.
Ms Quintanilla, 47, told TODAY US she has lost her hair twice in her lifetime as a result of cancer. She said she hopes the cancer will never return and that she’ll not suffer hair loss again, ensuring the tattoos will remain concealed once her and her daughter’s hair grows back.
“These tattoos are something special between my daughter and me, never to be seen again.
“It’s a symbol of my fight against breast cancer twice and of profound mother-daughter love.
“It reminds me of my daughter’s strength when I needed her there with me, and it reminds me of how much she loves me and how much I love her,” she said.
Meantime, Ms Vargas said she hopes the tattoo will remain a “silver lining” for her mother “at the end of all the crazy times and doctors’ appointments”.
