A coffee shop owner was flooded with support online after responding to a scathing review from a mother who changed her baby’s nappy twice at a table while people were eating at the coffee shop.
Owner, Jocelyn Ridgway said that she didn’t mind if the customer, a mum from Brisbane, never returned. “I know in my heart that that was not cool. It’s an etiquette thing. She won’t be back as a customer, that’s fine. I can’t afford to have customers like her anyway,” she said.
The mum had left a scathing review on Google about Ms Ridgway’s coffee shop, Park Bench Espresso Bar in Bulimba, narrating how she was treated after she changed the dirty nappy of her 12-week-old baby in front of diners.
She first praised the quality of the coffee, before taking aim at Ms Ridgway and other customers. She wrote:
Ms Ridgway then responded to the review.
The store’s Google reviews have grown to almost 40 with many criticising the mum, with one saying: “5 stars for not backing down when you were challenged by the lady with the dirty nappy! I would be disgusted if someone changed a nappy while I ate.”
Ms Ridgway told AAP the mother was at the coffee shop for two hours last Friday. “She was there that long the baby did two poos,” she said, adding that she already received complaints from a group of older women.
Since Ms Ridgway shared the review on Facebook with friends, she’s said she’s had nothing but support.
