‘Bus Don’t Move’: Mum Makes Parody on Bus Safety

Every year, over 100 children get killed while walking to school in the US. So, to help raise awareness on kids’ safety, a clever mum made a video that’s not just informative but also, fun!

Mum-of-two Deva Dalporto, an author, actor and blogger, stars in this trending video that hopes to spread awareness about the safety of kids on the street while going to school. Records show that half of 31 pedestrians killed while boarding a bus are children between the ages of five and seven, while 25,000 are injured.

So in one of her stories in Huffingtonpost.com, Ms Dalporto shares that when American Traffic Solutions, creators of the CrossingGuard® school bus stop arm enforcement technology for school buses, approached her about doing a video to raise awareness on bus safety, she immediately ‘hopped on board’ and she has this to say:

‘So what’s the problem? How is this happening? It’s all about the drivers. People speeding through school zones. People talking on phones, texting and generally not paying attention when they’re driving. People passing school buses when the lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. Not only is the latter illegal, it’s incredibly dangerous for our kids.’

Using the rhythm of the song, Bust a Move, she said that it was to perfect song to bring the message to mums and families all over the world. So, here’s the video, and get ready to get down. Watch this:

This video uploaded by Ms Dalporto’s blog, MyLifeSuckers.com, and has now over 100,000 views.

The next time your kid walks to school, remind them that before they cross a street, they have to stop and ‘don’t move’ when they see a bus. For bus drivers, remind them to pay attention while they’re driving and keep their eyes on the road.
