Who has one in 48 million chance that their birthdate is the same as their mother’s and father’s? This baby has.
Parents, Caitlin and Tom Perkins, from Dirranbandi, Queensland, were born on the same day on August 16th, 1986, just 50 minutes apart. On August 16th, 30 years later, Caitlin gave birth to their baby girl, Lucy Marie Perkins, making her a one in 48 million baby.
The birth was announced to the world when Caitlin’s obstetrician, Dr Brad Robinson, posted on Facebook on Wednesday about Lucy’s birth. He wrote:
“HOLD THE PHONE! You are not going to believe this story!
“This is Caitlin, Tom and their brand new daughter Lucy.
“So get this … both Caitlin and Tom turned 30 yesterday. Born within 50 minutes of each other on 16/08/86. Guess who else now has a birthday on 16 August?
“YEP. Lucy was born yesterday after SPONTANEOUS labour on the same day as her parents! The chances of that happening are 1 in 48 million!”
Lucy was born healthy at 3.3 kilograms at 39 weeks, and Dr Robinson just can’t get enough of the family.
“How incredible is it that the three of them now have the same birthday? And what a gorgeous family they make!”
His post has now gained more than 4,500 reactions.
