Start Your Own Business in Home Organising for Under $100

If your filing cabinet is a work of art and you can sort other peoples pantries or wardrobe’s to perfection, perhaps consider becoming a Home Organiser and getting paid to organise for other people!  Word of mouth is the key here!  Plus Instagramming images of your perfect finished job will soon create a cult following!

Best of all, this is the type of business that you can start under $100!

What Makes a Good Home Organiser?

A good home organiser knows exactly where every item in the home SHOULD be located. They work with their clients to declutter and organise their possessions so that the client can then learn how to keep their homes neat and organised. If your home just ‘works’ and everything has a place and it rarely gets messy – even with kids – then perhaps a Home Organiser is a good job to do!

A home organiser is not a glorified cleaner – they are people who help their clients decide what they want to keep, what should be recycled, and what should get tossed out. Their organising will improve the quality of life for their clients.

What Do You Need to Start a Home Organisation Business?

A good home organiser will have a computer, smartphone, diary and a means of transport. Most people have these items already. The next thing you need is a plan! Will you specialise in generalised organisation or will you specialise in filing and paperwork, or pantries and food storage?

You should also have a excellent contacts for storage container companies. Here are the ones we recommend:

How much Should I Charge for My Services as a Home Organiser?

When you are starting out, expect at least $30 per hour for your services. As you get more work and more accreditation under your belt, you can charge more.

Professional organisers can charge upwards of $100 per hour for their services.

How to Advertise for Clients:

  • Approach local accountants who could possibly have clients that would need your services.
  • Instagram your finished work and tag people that would you love to work with.
  • Advertise on local job boards
  • Hand out flyers to the local daycare centres and schools
  • Talk to other Mum’s that are too busy to do the job themselves!
