10 Chocolate Free Christmas Dessert Ideas
I don’t have chocolate in my house. It isn’t that I don’t like it (I ADORE it) – but if it is there, I’ll scoff the lot until it is gone. So do the kids.
But my husband is also allergic to chocolate… poor thing (yey for me!). The problem is that nearly everything Christmas related has chocolate in it or on it..
For instance, my husband yesterday was given a gift basket from his Theatre Class to thank him for the year – the gift is just beautiful – but it is full of chocolate – because most gifts are – gah gah gah!!
So I figured there must be other people out there who don’t like it, can’t eat it or just don’t want – Chocolate!
Let’s go through thirty different chocolate free Christmas Ideas!
1. Yes Please Cheesecake Dip
This recipe is a good one for when you still want sweet, but don’t want chocolate!
2. Frozen Strawberry Cheesecake Slice
Now before you go off your brain and tell me ‘But there is Nutella in the biscuit base’ – you can easily swap the Nutella out for peanut butter or just butter. When I make this I really love the peanut butter version – so decadent and rich! Another great thing about this recipe is that you can make it in advance (up to two weeks) and just grab it out of the freezer before serving – so it also saves you time on Christmas Day!
3. Christmas Fruit Mince Piecaken
What happens when a cake marries some Fruit Mince Pies? Pie + Cake = PIECAKEN!
Plus it is so easy to make – best served warm!
4. Strawberry Custard Trifle
A semi-traditional trifle that even the little kids will enjoy on Christmas Day!
5. Condensed Milk Cheesecake Pavlova Stack
This is our Christmas Dessert this year, a delicious stacked pavlova sandwiched together with condensed milk cheesecake – and topped with candied coconut and blueberries. Truly delicious!
6. Old Fashioned Caramel Tart
Probably the BEST caramel tart on the face of the earth (I kid you not!). Even better if you top it with meringue and turn it into a Caramel Meringue Tart. Hmmmm yum!
7. Baileys Deep Fried Coconut and Cinnamon Ice Cream Bombs
Yes this recipe is a bit fiddly and can be time consuming. BUT – you can make them long in advance and just keep them in the freezer until they are ready to be served!
8. Salted Caramel Macadamia Cheesecake
A Cheesecake that will impress Aunty Sally!
9. Strawberry Tiramisu
This is Julie Goodwin’s recipe (republished with permission). She is one of my favourite chefs to follow (her and Margaret Fulton) – just so delicious!
10. Zesty Lemon Cheesecake Mousse
Zesty and delicious – these are a spoonful of Summer in a glass!! Make in advance and serve them in drinking glasses!
