30 Make Ahead Snacks You Can Freeze For Later
Let’s Make Some School Snacks that we can Freeze!
School mornings are so much easier when you have some delicious snacks all frozen, ready to go in your freezer.
Not all foods are suitable to be frozen, but the following recipes work so well, your child (and you if you eat the snacks too) will never ever know!

1. Pizza Scrolls
I love Pizza Scrolls, they are the perfect make ahead snack for school lunches or a snack on the go! You can make a large batch and freeze them – either raw (and bake fresh) or you can freeze them already cooked and just heat them up (if you have a toaster oven, they will taste like they were just cooked!).
2. Mince Scrolls
Another one of our favourites – hearty and meaty beef mince scrolls! Way more hearty than pizza scrolls, and just a fun way to make a sausage roll! Plus this recipe is good for sneaking in vegetables – if you look closely at my batch below, you can see the spinach I put in there – shhhh don’t tell the kids! Mince Scrolls can be frozen both raw or cooked.
3. Ham and Vegetable Muffins
Check out our recipe for delicious ham and vegetable muffins that’s made easy for you! This is the perfect recipe to make in bulk for school lunches and frozen. Then if you individually wrap them in plastic wrap – you can just pop one into the lunch box frozen in the morning, and it will be perfectly defrosted and ready to eat by morning tea. This is a great one for busy Mums and Dads on the go too – because it is a healthy and filling snack!
4. Bulk Bacon & Egg Muffins
Two of our favourite breakfast foods in one bite! But did you know you can freeze them? Yep – and they freeze just beautifully.
5. Cheesy Top Lasagna Cups
An easy snack for busy families! Again lasagna freezes well so these lasagna cups do too. They make a great lunch with a side of salad for Mums or Dads at home. Plus you can make them in muffin tins!
6. Tim Tam Balls
Tim Tam balls are fun to make (and eat) with friends! Invite them over for a “balls night”!This one’s gonna be loved by the kids as well. Freeze them on a baking tray – then once they are frozen, pop them into a zip-lock bag. They are absolutely delicious when you eat them straight from the freezer….
7. Frugal Chocolate Mud Cake
It’s never a bad decision to make a chocolate cake….ever! But did you know you can freeze this cake? For up to two months. Make a few Frugal Chocolate Mud Cakes in advance, allow them to cool to room temperature, then double wrap in plastic wrap (wrap really really well – that’s the key) – then they are good for up to two months. When you want one of the cakes, unwrap and place under a tea towel on the bench for about two hours, then ice and serve!
8. Zucchini Slice
Zucchini Slice is the most perfect of foods. Because you can eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a snack. It is great for parties, to feed a crowd or to eat on your own. Plus it freezes well and it is good for you. Perfect!
9. Mini Quiches
It doesn’t matter what kind of party you’re throwing, Mini Quiches are fit for any occasion. They’re lovely as snacks, too! Plus you can sneak loads of vegetables into them!
10. Easy Cheesy Muffins
With only three simple ingredients – these muffins are easy to whip up fresh – but you can also freeze them and then just microwave them for 10 seconds each and they are so fresh and delicious. These little buggers are prone to sticking in the pan though, so make sure you really grease the muffin tin well!
11. Corn Fritters
Corn Fritters are tasty and very savoury which makes the wait more satisfying when you eat it! But did you know you can freeze Corn Fritters? Make a huge batch, then to freeze, layer them into a sealed container with sheets of baking paper between the layers. To eat, just take out the number you want and heat them in the microwave for about 20 seconds each. Delicious.
12. Cheesy Beef Puffs
Pack two of these delicious beauties and you have added protein in your daily intake of food! Plus they are a GREAT way to use leftover beef roast.
13. Chocolate Condensed Milk Balls
Condensed milk mixed with chocolate to satisfy your sweet craving! Make huge batches, place them on a baking tray and place in the freezer until they are solid, then pour them into a zip lock bag (this saves heaps of room and keeps them from getting freezer burn). Again, they are just DELICIOUS eaten frozen. Not that I would know ANYTHING about that…..
14. Sandwiches
This has to be the easiest to make in the list! You can never go wrong freezing a batch of sandwiches for the week! So this on a Sunday evening with the freshest bread or bread rolls you can find. There are so many sandwich fillings that are freezable and it makes the school run in the morning so much easier!
15. Sultana Butter Cake
Another great cake that freezes just beautifully and is great for school lunches or for when you have visitors and want a lovely fresh morning tea cake to enjoy with a coffee. Cakes freeze well when wrapped really well in plastic wrap and can be frozen for up to two months – just make sure you write the date that the cake needs to be eaten by on the outside (I do this with a sharpie).
16. Ham and Pineapple Pinwheels
You are going to be all over our Ham and Pineapple Pinwheels, they are sensational! They are great to make ahead and freeze for school lunches or after school snacks!
17. Simple Strawberry Muffins
These super Simple Strawberry Muffins are fantastic for lunch boxes or as a delicious dessert. This recipe is great for any season and any kind of muffin is considered a staple in everyone’s diet. They freeze really well too and are delicious with a sprinkling of icing sugar on top!
18. Afghan Biscuits
These Afghan biscuits are my all time favourite from my childhood. My mum used to make them for us when we were kids and I still love the taste of them. They are also great biscuits to make with your children. They can help in most if not all stages. Just keep on eye on them.

A ball of deliciousness! Made of coconut and white chocolate.. yuummmm!
24. Choc Coconut Muffins
Choc Coconut Muffins are nice, simple and cheap on pocket. Makes for scrummy school lunch snacks or freeze and have them on hand when the multitudes of rugrats roll into your place starving to death! Of course then they might not leave.
25. Vegetarian Sausage Rolls
No meat, very simple vegetarian sausage roll recipe and you can freeze them. The kids will never guess what is in them. Make up a batch or two freeze some for a night you don’t want to cook.
26. Banana Fritters
I’m a sucker for the old Pineapple or Banana Fritters (you can use this same recipe for both) deliciously simple. Eat them on their own, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a quick and easy snack-ish dessert!
27. Bite-size Nutella Banana Muffins
Bite-size Nutella Banana Muffins are drool-worthy bites of sweet, moist chocolate heaven with that rich banana flavour.
28. Knock-Off Subway Biscuits
Ever tried the biscuits at Subway? Seriously they ROCK! They are sweet and chewy and crunchy with the perfect amount of chocolate to biscuit ratio. I think these Knock-Off Subway Biscuits version is a pretty darn good recipe and you can freeze the dough so you can have fresh biscuits anytime.

Apricot Balls are easy to make, delicious and a time-honoured Christmas Tradition in my family! They also make fabulous lunch box fillers or after school snacks. Enjoy!

30. Easy Pineapple Cake
