These Golden Syrup Puffs, deep fried dough balls covered in hot syrup, are reminiscent of days at Grandma’s house… They must be eaten hot and fresh!
Method

In a large bowl combine the yeast, warm milk, sugar, egg and butter.

Mix well and gradually add the sifted Plain Flour.

Stir until well combined.

Place a damp tea towel over the bowl and place it in a warm place for approximately one hour or until the batter is doubled in size.

Using a wooden spoon mix the batter until smooth.

Heat the canola oil and drop tablespoons of the batter into the hot oil in batches.

When the puffs are evenly browned, remove and place on some paper towels to drain.

Divide the puffs into plate.

Heat the Golden Syrup in the microwave until hot but not boiling, and pour over evenly just before serving.
