Christmas Sugar Cookies are a traditional American Christmas recipe.
They are sweet and buttery with a crisp outside. They are perfect to use with cookie cutters then decorated with royal icing.
Method
-
Beat together the butter, vanilla extract and caster sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Add the plain flour, custard powder, egg yolk and egg and mix until the dough is combined.
-
Lightly knead the dough and wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for half an hour.
-
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
-
Roll out the dough (it's easier to roll it out between two pieces of baking paper) until nice and thin.
-
Use cooking cutters to cut out the required shapes.
-
Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes or until golden.
-
Decorate as desired! These also make great Christmas gifts!
-
Christmas Sugar Cookies dough is suitable to freeze for up to two months. Roll into a ball or log and cover with plastic wrap.
