Resisting the urge to make a million half hearted resolutions, there’s one thing that I feel I have to ditch. Sugar.
I’ll be the first person to admit I don’t have great success at going cold turkey trying to give up cakes, biscuits, pastries, sweets, or those naughty, naughty fresh cinnamon doughnuts that melt in your mouth like fairy floss. For me, I feel it’s a more realistic goal to reduce and or replace, rather than rule out.
Instead of cutting things out of your diet altogether, substitute them for a healthier alternative. Having always been a lover of cranberry juice, and always having it in the pantry, Ocean Spray now has 2 new low sugar cranberry drinks with only 10 calories per serve.
Here’s my week ditching the fizz, and kicking off my reduced sugar resolution:
MONDAY: Cranberry and Blueberry Blitz
- 1/2 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
- 1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 3 tsps honey
- 1 cup Almond milk
TUESDAY: Cinnaberry Smoothie
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
- 1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup strawberries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1 tsp cinnamon
WEDNESDAY: Cran-Mango Mint and Lime
- 1 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cran-Mango Juice
- 2 wedges fresh lime
- sprig mint
THURSDAY: Cranberry Apple Berry Muddle
- 1 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
- 1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup strawberries
- 1/4 diced apple
FRIDAY: Cranberry Lemon Ginger
- 1 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
- thumb diced ginger (fresh)
- wedge lemon
SATURDAY: Cranberry Apple Anise
- 1 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
- chopped apple (fresh)
- 3 star anise
SUNDAY: Sneaky Greens Smoothie
- 1 cup low fat greek yogurt
- 2 handfuls baby spinach
- 1/2 banana
- 1 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)
- 1/2 cup Ocean Spray Low Sugar Cranberry Juice
