So you’ve been invited to a Halloween party? That is awesome who doesn’t like dress ups right?!
Kids and adults alike can have a heap of fun organising and dressing up in their costumes. The only thing is the party is this weekend and you’ve forgotten all about actually buying that slutty zombie nurse costume that you’ve had your eye on for weeks now.
What the hell are you going to do now? Time for a little creativity! You’re not creative at all I hear you say? Well, you can thank me later because I have put together a list of 20 easy peasy lemon squeezy Halloween costumes that you can make yourself at short notice that are perfect for the creatively challenged amongst us (like myself!).
Halloween costumes don’t always have to be ghoulish, sometimes, it’s fun to just ‘have fun’ and be a little silly and left of centre with your costume, too.
Lets get started with ideas that will work for kids and adults!
1) A Bag of Jelly beans
via PinterestBag of water balloons, large clear plastic bag or clear plastic sheet, some tape and viola! — jellybeans a plenty. This costume is also very handy if you maybe have a little too much wine and lose your balance — built-in air bags! Safety first!
2) Pop art girl/guy
A quick session with makeup and a hairband with a quirky thought written on it. Simple. Easy. Cute.
3) Medusa
Even though they’re plastic snakes, they still give me the heeby geebies! Add your basic sheet toga and you are winning in the “I wish I thought of that!” stakes.
4) Crazy Cat Lady
Super easy just your pj’s, dishevelled hair and couple of stuffed toys (sorry kids Mumma needs these tonight!)
5) Cereal Killer
How to be macarbe without being macarbe. Great conversation starter too!
6) Censored
Simplicity at its finest. A couple of tubes of paint, cardboard then BAM! You’ve been pixelated appropriately.
7) Fruit-a-licious
Sweet and most importantly SIMPLE! Oh yeahhhh!
8) Really struggling for time?
Quirky…I like it!
9) Nightmare material
Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ which not surprisingly is the reason birds scare the crap out of me to this day. Thanks Alfie.
10) Identity Thief
Boom tish!
11) Wrecking Ball!
Miley Cyrus inspiration. No Barbies were harmed in the making of this costume.
12) Flamingos are oh so right now
Be the latest feathery fad at your party. A couple of cheap shop boas and you are so trendy rendy!
13) Scuba Divers
14) Pretty As A Posy!
15) Bat out of hell
There are some really good DIY makeup tutorials online that would be perfect for this costume to make it more evil. Just be sure to to stab yourself with the umbrella wires when flapping around in your fabulousness!
16) Barbie and Ken
Classic! Barbie and Ken costume. A couple of boxes from your local appliance store, a slap of paint and you’re a collector’s item.
17) Turtle Power!
Just spray paint an aluminium roasting tray – shell complete! #NinjaTurtles
For those who like the more macabre…
18) Zombie Bride
Second hand stores will often have bridal gowns going cheap grab yourself some fake blood, too! Now you’ll need a good makeup tutorial and some art skillz!
19) Pennywise wouldn’t miss Halloween..
20) The Enchantress
Scare the heck out of your partner with this idea.
So as you see, not all costumes require a heap of money to be awesome. You can whip these babies up in a day and be the talking point at the next party.
What will you wear this Halloween?
