Teenager Threw Newborn Daughter Out the Window

A 16-year-old mother has been charged as an adult after allegedly killing her newborn daughter by throwing her out of her bedroom window just moments after secretly giving birth.

Antonia Lopez, from Omaha, Nebraska in the US, was accused of the death of her baby girl on Friday morning.

Investigators say Ms Lopez was alone in her bedroom when she went into labour and gave birth to the premature baby.

Police said Ms Lopez then threw the baby out of her bedroom window from the second floor of her home and told her mother. They said that Ms Lopez’s mother had found the baby in the grass, called 911 and gave the newborn CPR until paramedics arrived.

The baby was immediately taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

During the time of the alleged incident, Ms Lopez reportedly posted a bizarre request on Facebook. “Who can do me a huge favour and has a car?” she wrote, with three crying emojis.

Her grandfather, John Barcelona, told KETV he didn’t know his granddaughter was pregnant. “She looked like she was well underweight more than anything else, I would’ve never dreamt that she was pregnant,” he said.

Ms Lopez has been charged as an adult with felony child abuse resulting in death.

Police said autopsy results are expected next week.
