Six-Year-Old Girl Injured After Being Crushed Between Two Cars

A six-year-old girl was rushed to hospital after being crushed between two cars in a horrifying scene.

The girl was pictured being cradled in her father’s arms, only moments after she was crushed between two cars after a 50-year-old woman, who was allegedly six times over the legal blood alcohol limit, crashed into several parked cars in Sydney at about 12.40 pm on Wednesday.

Police claim the woman was also on the phone when she crashed. The woman had allegedly tried to flee on foot but was detained by bystanders until police arrived. She was then arrested in Eastwood, in Sydney’s north-west and was taken to Ryde Police Station where she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.303.

The girl was left with pelvic injuries and taken to Westmead Hospital where a spokeswoman later confirmed she was in a stable condition. Inspector Anthony Boyd of Eastwood Police said the girl was lucky to survive the crash. “With that level of impairment this could’ve been a catastrophic incident involving a young lady and her death or others,” he said.

It’s believed that the woman had been trying to reverse her blue Subaru but instead went forwards and struck the car in front, pushing it into another car and trapping the girl. The girl, who was with her father, had been trying to cross the road between two parked vehicles when she was crushed and trapped for at least three minutes.

Police said a total of seven vehicles were involved in the incident.

The woman has been charged with high range drink driving, causing bodily harm by misconduct and using a mobile phone while driving. She faces a maximum of 18 months behind bars or a $3300 fine if convicted of high range drink driving. She was granted bail to appear in court on October 24.

Police have appealed for anyone with information regarding the crash.
