Police Investigate Mysterious Death of Twin Toddlers in Hot Car

Police are now investigating the mysterious death of three-year-old twins inside a hot car in the US.

Twins Oliver and Aria Orr were found unresponsive inside a pick up truck parked in their family’s driveway in Bossier City, Louisiana, on Saturday.

Neighbour Rhonda Matthews told the Shreveport Times that the twins’ mother, Alisha Orr, had taken a nap and woke to find the toddlers missing. She said Alisha contacted her for help finding the twins. Shortly after, Alisha found the toddlers unconscious in the family’s ute about 3pm (local time). Ms Matthews said she tried to give them CPR, first to Aria, then Oliver, but was unsuccessful.

The twins were rushed to hospital, but were pronounced dead. An autopsy found their deaths were heat-related.

A police spokesman at the Bossier City Police Department – where the twins’ father, Travis Orr, worked – told People.com that they had already launched an investigation into the tragedy. “Our investigation will focus on how the kids ended up in the pickup truck, and whether it was due to someone’s actions or was accidental…We’ve yet to determine whether anything occurred here that could warrant criminal charges,” he said.

Child Protective Services also took part in the investigation, although no signs of trauma were found on the children, the Shreveport Times reported.

Three weeks before the twins’ death, the father, Travis, posted on his Facebook account that Oliver was admitted to hospital after being attacked by the family’s dog. He stayed in hospital for five days, receiving treatment.
