A mother has confessed to using ice when her four-year-old daughter was killed in a horror car crash while she drove the car.
Kylie Anne Hie, 34, from Adelaide, has admitted to the court that she was using methamphetamine when she fatally injured her daughter, Charlotte May-Grace, in a horror car crash with semi trailer.
The Advertiser reported that Ms Hie pleaded guilty to the aggravated death by dangerous driving of her daughter in November 2013.
She was found to have methamphetamine in her system when she crashed her white van while trying to overtake a 40 tonne timer-carrying semi-trailer and her daughter was not properly strapped into the front seat. She was not able to overtake safely and smashed into the back of the semi trailer.
The toddler was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital but later died.
Ms Hie, who has convictions for traffic offences including drink-driving, speeding and driving while disqualified, had originally claimed she suffered a seizure at the time, but reportedly pleaded guilty after visiting her daughter’s shrine.
She is now facing jail time.
