A missing woman and her husband were believed to be ‘drowning in debt’ before the woman disappeared.
Karen Ristevski, 47, from Melbourne, disappeared last month, but before she was reported missing, she and her husband, Borce Ristevski, 52, reportedly had an argument over financial issues, which led to Mrs Ristevski leaving her home at Avondale Heights three weeks ago, on June 29.
The Australian reported that the couple are said to be partners in a business, Bella Bleu, where Mrs Ristevski is listed as a sole shareholder and Mr Ristevski as a director of another business.
The publication claims a caveat, believed to be due to unpaid rent, was lodged in February by a shopping centre owner over Mrs Ristevski’s Avondale Heights property. The caveat prevents the property, said to be worth up to $1.1million, from being transferred or sold.
The Australian also reported that the problems with finances for the family are believed to date back over ten years following the disintegration of a rag trade business.
Earlier reports revealed that investigators had spoken with Mr Ristevski as part of the ongoing investigation. He was since released pending further inquiries after he was unable to provide any answers to where Mrs Ristevski went after their argument.
Yahoo7 News is not suggesting Mr Ristevski is involved in the disappearance of his wife.
People who knew Mrs Ristevski have reportedly said her disappearance is out of character.
Concerns about her whereabouts grew when she didn’t show up to work at the Watergardens Town Centre.
Karen Ristevski has been described as having shoulder-length brown hair and a slim build and is 160cm tall. She was last seen wearing jeans and a black jacket and is believed to have had a Coach purse and handbag with her.
The investigation into her disappearance remains ongoing.
