Parents and their kids have turned Malcolm Turnbull’s joking suggestion on parents helping kids buy their own house, into something hilarious.
This comes after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s comment when he was challenged by Melbourne radio host Jon Faine during a morning banter as to why his own kids should be locked out of the housing market.
The conversation went:
“Well, are your kids locked out of the housing market, Jon?” the Prime Minister responded.
“Yes,” Mr Faine said.
“Well, you should shell out for them. You should support them, a wealthy man like you,” Mr Turnbull said.
“That’s what they say!” Mr Faine said.
Then, Mr Turnbull continued to suggest the “wealthy” radio host could help to “provide a bit of intergenerational equity in the Faine family”.
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten attacked the Mr Turnbull for his jibe. “Is that really the Prime Minister’s advice for young Australians struggling to buy their first home? Have rich parents?” he said.
However, Mr Turnbull replied: “They are sneering at the hardworking Australians who seek to make something for their children, and they dare to talk to us about being out of touch,” he said.
Senator Doug Cameron had accused Mr Turnbull of being out of touch, saying many Australians were battling to put food on the table, let alone helping their kids buy homes.
Now, on Triple J’s Matt Okine and Alex Dyson’s Facebook page, Matt and Alex fielded a question regarding the matter and got some hilarious responses, which they posted on their page.
Another parent and kid conversation was so funny, it made it to the page:
While one parent joked about almost forgetting who the texter was:
Well, looks like a lot of kids will be renting.
