Police in the US are now investigating the father who was pictured dragging a girl by her hair around a Texas Walmart.
The picture was taken by Erika Burch, who was also shopping at Walmart in Cleveland, Texas when she spotted the father, dragging the girl whose hair was ‘wrapped around the buggy’.
Ms Burch, who uploaded the photos on Facebook, said the child was pleading for the man to stop. “I promise I won’t do it again! Please stop!” she said the little girl cried.
She said she then took out her phone and snapped photos of the man. She told him to let the child go, but the man told her to mind her own business, which prompted her to say: “No I’m not! Right now this little girl is my business and you need to let her hair go now!”
Ms Burch said she flagged down an officer who called his sergeant with the Cleveland Police Department to handle the matter.
The police department later posted on Facebook that they had been receiving a number of calls regarding the incident. They said their Detective Division is now investigating the incident, along with the Child Protective Service (CPS).
However, Ms Burch said that the sergeant told her that the man ‘has the right to discipline his children’ and that ‘for it to be abuse, there had to be bodily injury to the child’.
