So, what can you do to ensure your wedding speech is a success?
Don’t Expect laughs
Sometimes you will find laughter where you least expect it. If you end each sentence with “Huh? Huh? Get it?” or “funny eh?” then you might as well head for the exit right after the speech.
Remain calm
Perfecting your funny wedding speech takes poise. However, sometimes your nerves will get the best of you. Public speaking is not everyone’s strong point. It’s important to remain as calm as possible. Take your time; read slowly and try to let your personality shine through.
Practice makes perfect
There’s nothing funny about getting on stage and fumbling through your speech as if you have never seen the words in your life. Make sure you practice what you are going to say. Try to memorize it so you don’t need to have a piece of paper in front of you. If you do need the paper, make sure you know where to pause for laughter and incorporate the correct punctuation into your tone. Run on sentences are never funny.
Above all, be sincere, if the Bride and Groom mean the world to you feel free to tell them (and the entire congregation). A well delivered, heart felt, mildly humorous speech will go down like the bride on the wedding night.
Good luck!
