Nine-Year-Old Boy Sports Amazing Mullet But Is Shaving It Off For A Worthy Cause

This kid has the most amazing mullet that every 70s to 90s man would envy — but is shaving it off for a much worthy cause.

This nine-year-old boy, from the regional town of Onslow in north-west Western Australia, has now been considered a local celebrity because of his incredible long locks, and almost everyone who sees him would want to take a selfie with him — which gave him the idea for a cause he wanted to do.

Baird decided to help raise money for children’s charity, Variety, for its Hair With Heart campaign, by charging $5 for a selfie.

Baird got the idea to raise money for charity when he was stopped for a selfie during a school fundraiser, The West Australian reports.

His mother, Renee Garrett, said that her son hoped to raise $24,000 before September 2018, when he plans to cut his mullet off and donate his hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer or other illnesses.

Renee said that Baird started growing his incredible mullet after a talk with a barber, and has been growing it since for the last two years. “He used to just have a short back and sides and a spiky top and one day he was sitting down with the barber and said, ‘I just want the top trimmed this time’,” Ms Garrett told The West Australian. “The barber said ‘Well then, you need a mullet’.”

On his Hair with Heart page, Baird writes:

“I have been growing my mullet for 2.5 years and it will be sad to part with it.

“People know me because of my mullet – its my trademark!

“Please help me raise $24,000 as this will provide 4 kids with wigs and help them gain self confidence.

“I will be cutting my hair in September 2018. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks for your generosity everyone.”
