Diarrhoea is a nasty bug. Not only is it embarrassing but it can also be incredibly painful.
When you are suffering from diarrhoea this is usually because your body is trying to flush something out. Often eating something bad will cause diarrhoea, but there are countless numbers of viruses and tummy bugs that can trigger these symptoms as well. If you are spending half of your day on the toilet and suffering from cramps and pain, then there are a few ways to help keep you hydrated and control the constant need to go.
1. Bread
via www.recipetips.comBread is a great option when you are sick with just about any tummy bug. The reason is because it is bland and will hopefully not disrupt your digestion system any more than it already is. Furthermore, if you are suffering from diarrhoea, there is a good chance that you are also quite nauseous and vomiting as well, and the last thing you want to eat is a big bowl of spicy chili or something with intense flavours. So stick to bland foods that won’t do any more harm, such as bread or crackers.
2. Yoghurt
via BigstockPlain yoghurt in small amounts can help to kill off some of the bacteria in your stomach and intestines which cause gastro.
3. Club Soda
via Collins BrothersLook into a flat fizzy drink such as club soda, ginger ale, lemonade or even tonic water. Let them go flat, then drink it in sips. This can help your stomach settle and hopefully, will help alleviate the cramping as well.
4. Cinnamon
via Well-Being SecretsAdd two pinches of powdered cinnamon into a cup of hot milk. While milk can be hard to drink when you are feeling nauseous, it can help with diarrhoea.
5. BRAT
via The Paleo MomYou have probably heard of the foods to avoid in infants as it can cause constipation. But these same foods are also recommended if you are suffering from diarrhoea. They include Bananas, Rice, Apple (or applesauce) and Toast. Or BRAT, as it is so affectionately known.
