Coming out and embracing their new found liberty, these celebrities tell us why they’re out and proud.
From past to present, from closet to coming out, from marriage to splitsville, we have rounded up the celebrities who are not afraid to spill the beans about their true sexuality. Here are the faces of LGBT pride.
1. Ellen Page
The star who plays Shadowcat in X-men Days of Future Past has came out of the shadows in 2014 and said “I’m tired of hiding.” She is currently in a relationship with Samantha Thomas.
2. Neil Patrick Harris
For some, coming out is career suicide but our fave Dr. Doogie Howser infringes all expectations. NPH has been vocal about his sexuality since 2006. Now, he’s married to David Burtka. The couple are known to be the most active in social media – sharing adorable photos of their two children, Harper and Gideon.
3. John Barrowman
In his stellar career, there’s no role played that John didn’t explore and excel in on the stage and on our screens. From Phantom of the Opera to Dr Who and his spin off show, Torchwood, he made his way into US mainstream film and TV shows like Zero Dark Thirty and Desperate Housewives.
4. Bruce Jenner a.k.a Caitlyn Jenner
We wouldn’t miss the most high profile gender transition that happened in 2015 — Bruce Jenner coming out as a transgender woman on the cover of Vanity Fair. The 65-year-old former athlete introduced “Caitlyn” to the world whom she describes as “unfettered access to [her and] her family, chronicles the tensions, traumas, and courage that shaped Caitlyn into the woman you see today”.
5. Ricky Martin
After spilling the beans about his sexuality in 2010, the pop star said in an interview that he’d love to do it a second time. “It felt amazing. I wish I could come out again because that moment felt very blissful,” Martin said.
