He followed up with an audition for the lead in the superhero film Thor. He went up against super stiff competition, including younger brother Liam. But director Kenneth Brannagh chose Chris to play the Norse god in the 2011 flick opposite Oscar-winners Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins. It was this box-office success elevated Hemsworth to A-List status.
The following year, Chris became Thor once more in the The Avengers. He was then cast to play the character for a third time in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, and again played this popular character in this year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The adorable doting dad to three-year-old India and one-year-old twins, Tristan and Sasha, recently opened up to E! News about his kids, revealing, “My daughter is full of energy, like my wife and I, and strong-minded and has an opinion, like we do,” he said.
“And my boys, one’s a bit more calm and chill and the other is much more sensitive to things. You see this right away, when they’re first born. One cried, one didn’t, with the boys.”
Chris and his wife Elsa, who is also an actress, have agreed to only ever have one of them working at a time, so they’re able to stay together as a family. When the both get time off, they like to visit their families in Australia and Spain.
Elsa speaks to the couple’s three kids in her native Spanish so that they grow up bilingual, but while Chris has been trying to learn the language since they started dating in 2010, he is still not fluent.
