Honeymoons
In ancient times, weddings were only held under the full moon. After the wedding, the bride and groom would drink honey wine for one full moon cycle. This became known as the “Honeymoon.” We still practice this tradition in the form of a romantic holiday.
Most of our wedding traditions are diluted forms of rituals from ancient times. They are not set in stone anywhere and, therefore, are open to interpretation and change. Maybe it is time for the modern couple to do away with some of these and focus on creating their own traditions.
