Why not? There’s a whole lot to be said for the way some animals survive and raise their young in the wild with their fierce protectiveness and natural instincts for nurturing. Some animals have developed amazing parenting techniques which ensure the survival of their species even in the harshest of conditions. From emperor penguins that share parenting duties and manage to raise their chicks in the coldest temperatures on Earth, to the giant anteater that carries its tiny helpless baby on its back for months before it can fend for itself, the creatures featured in this book have developed ways of caring for their young that are both unique and out-of-this-world.

It’s also a nice change and a chance to have a ‘oh look at the baby penguin’ moment with your kids. Kindness and caring for animals is a great way to teach your child the importance of gentle touch and mindfulness of other creatures.

There is a certain tome, which I will not give name to, which suggests you should leave your new, precious, tiny, loving infant to cry him or herself to sleep (until they pass out from exhaustion and stress). Feel free to have a go at using the pages of that rubbish, anxiety-creating piece of crap to light your winter fires. It should burn up quite nicely.
