Best Parenting Books

For parents-to-be and new parents alike, this whole pregnancy, birthing, child-raising thing can be a pretty daunting and exhausting experience.

However, it can also be a fun, happy, exhilarating time if you just have a helping hand, some sound advice and a couple of decent books to help you out..a nap doesn’t go astray either. But let’s focus on the books that have helped a lot of parents cope. Here’s a list of the best parenting books worth reading!

Your New Pregnancy Bible

Anne Deans

Your New Pregnancy Bible

This book. This is it. This is the only pregnancy book you’ll need. I had the old one and it was fantastic, so I can only imagine the security and confidence I might find myself feeling if i were pregnant and I had the new one! This book is recognized by women and their caregivers as simply the best pregnancy guide available.  So much information is packed into this book, yet you never feel inundated or bored.

There’s a fold-out section on each trimester and the birthing process, week-by-week images of and information about your developing baby (everyone in my contacts list received weekly foetus-growth updates in graphic detail during my first pregnancy, which must have been enthralling for my happily single non-parent-type friends!) in-depth chapters on antenatal care, labour preparation (I don’t think I read that chapter properly), accounts of delivery experiences with real photos and care of your newborn baby.

There’s plenty of reference material on medical treatments and procedures in both the pregnancy and postnatal stages and labour and birthing options. This latest edition has been updated to take account of recent changes in antenatal and newborn care and to provide a more comprehensive discussion of caesarean deliveries.

Written by a team of specialists under the direction of a leading UK obstetrician, this has everything parents need to know about creating the optimum environment for a developing baby and safeguarding the health and well-being of the mum.
