The question on every lady’s lips”¦ “Is he single?”
I would hardly be doing my duty to serve you luscious ladies if I didn’t ask. And to answer your question, yes, when I asked, he most certainly was.
I’m hearing faint school girl squeals across the nation right now.
Among the fan questions, the ones of which I can actually repeat (you saucy minxes!), had little to do with his prowess in the kitchen. Culinary prowess that is. So, yes he has sex appeal, no, he is not egotistical in the slightest, he didn’t smell like sugar (is that even a thing?) but he did smell good, yes, he was really very lovely and generous with his time and personal information, and yes, he definitely has that je ne sais quoi.
I also wouldn’t be doing my job properly if I didn’t indulge in Adriano’s delectable delicacies and tell you how amazing they are.
They’re amazing!
There aren’t enough descriptive words in the english language to describe that type of oral foodgasm.
The man runs a tight ship. With Zumbo patisseries in seven locations across, Melbourne and Sydney, there are plenty of desserts to cater for your next baby shower, high tea hens or birthday. In addition, he also has a couple of other venues on the side.
Behind Adriano’s patisserie in South Yarra, Melbourne, is Little Frankie’s which pays homage to Adriano’s Italian background. The colourful space houses a range of rustic, home style Italian fare, sweet and savory.
Located right next door to Little Frankie’s, is Fancy Nance, the penultimate, contemporary high tea indulgence like you have never seen! A proper degustation of deserts. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any sweeter, on Friday and Saturday nights, Fancy Nance transforms into a discotheque dessert bar, complete with DJ and soft serve machine. Hello ladies night!
With so many stores to run, staff to mentor, high standards to maintain, ambassadorships, books to write and being a real life Willy Wonka coming up with new flavours and ideas, I ask if he ever switches off.
“No, not really.”
And then we started talking about nude yoga. I totally lost my shit, got a heinous case of the giggles and could barely keep the interview on track. While we both agreed that it would probably be more distracting than relaxing, I’m stuck with the mental picture of being arse to face with a man, pert posterior aloft, doing the downward dog with his janglies just swinging in the breeze”¦
Awkward.
Coming from humble beginnings in Coonamble, NSW, his Italian parents owned the local IGA supermarket. It is here that he developed his sweet tooth and at 15 years old, he moved to Sydney to begin his apprenticeship as a pastry chef.
Aside from being dubbed, the “patissier of pain” on channel Ten’s Masterchef, Adriano has had his own documentary which aired on SBS. Sort of like the Kardashians in that he was followed around 24/7, but actually likeable.
Not only is Adriano Zumbo highly skilled in the kitchen, he is also extraordinarily creative with the design of his desserts and off beat flavours. Famous for his Zumbarons, these delicious little morsels are his own take on macarons. OMG, these things are like eating a cloud and getting a flavour fuelled, sexy slap in the face that turns you on!
I’m pretty sure everything that man makes needs to come with a MA15+ rating.
