You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘Confidence is Key’ more than once in your life, but like many things, it’s easy to say and hard to do.
For many people, confidence seems to come naturally, while for others, it’s a struggle, and a lot of faking it until you make it. So, is there anything that you can do to be a more confident person in your day-to-day life? We certainly think there is! Here are some tips on how to be more confident every day.
1. Don’t compare yourself.
There is no bigger confidence killer than comparison. Comparing yourself to others is something that people, particularly women, do all the time, so we understand that it’s one thing to say and one thing to do. What you have to remember is that you are your own person. You aren’t going to become the person you’re comparing yourself to no matter how hard you try. So, instead of trying to be someone else, just be the best version of yourself and enjoy that.
2. Be a positive thinker.
When you visualise that something will happen, you’re putting on course to happen. That’s not science, but it’s something we’ve certainly noticed. So, when you’re thinking mostly bad things like “I’ll never reach my goal” or “I’m not beautiful” or “I can’t learn to do that”, those visualisation are how you’re showing yourself off in the world. Your own negative thinking brings your confidence way down. So, change it up by making a point to replace negative words and thoughts with positive ones, and love yourself a little more.
3. Don’t let mistakes get you down.
Mistakes are absolutely a part of life, but they can really shake our confidence, particularly if we felt that we had something ‘down’ only to make a mistake. The thing to remember about mistakes is that they do happen, and they’re a learning experience. You can’t live your life without mistakes, so don’t sweat it too much when they happen to you. At the end of the day, you’re going to have learned from that mistake, and be on your way to being even more confident in your skills than before.
