When watching a movie it’s a comforting feeling knowing that the leading actors who are playing lovers on screen are actually lovers off screen too.
It gives the movie that authenticity knowing these actors are not just faking it, their f**king it.
We know there have been plenty of occasions where an on-screen couple’s chemistry has led to an off-screen romance between the Hollywood actors. Hardly surprising with the kissing, canoodling and flirting on a daily basis while playing each other’s love interests. When actors (sexy ones at that) spend months making out all day it’s never really that surprising when they hook up off set.
But, is it ok for stars that played siblings on-screen to hook up in real life? Is that weird? It mustn’t be, because it happens a lot; there are quite a few celebrities who fell in love in real life after they played siblings on a TV show.
Check out this list of celebrities who played siblings then got down and dirty after the cameras stopped filming. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with it to be honest; it’s a case of fictional incest!
Marcia & Greg – The Brady Bunch
Marcia and Greg Brady (played by Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams) hooked up in real life. Viewers were totally freaked out after learning these two were getting it on when the cameras stopped rolling. I would be too; this family was as good as it gets in America. However let’s be honest, I think the whole family was getting it on.
Rebecca & Justin – Brothers and Sisters
Emily VanCamp and Dave Annable starred together on Brothers and Sisters, which says it all really, and to make things a little more confusing the script outlined that they weren’t actually related so they also hooked up on screen anyway. Following their real life and on screen break up, Dave Annable’s future real life wife, Odette Yustman was cast as his love interest on the show back in 2010. Now that is seriously a case of whose f*$king who here”¦
Alex & Justin – Wizards of Waverly Place
Long before the Biebs, Selena Gomez starred alongside David Henrie in 2008 Disney TV show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’. They were rumoured to be dating, but wanted it kept very hush, hush (not very Disney).
Brandon & Brenda – Beverley Hills 90210
Jason Priestley and Shannen Doherty hooked up way back in the early days of 90210. We all got to know and love these two as the twins, Brandon and Brenda Walsh. Their real life love didn’t last (boo who), but they continued with the show (what good sports).
Dexter & Debra – Dexter
Jennifer Carpenter and actor Michael C. Hall played brother and sister on the hit TV show Dexter. This show was creepy enough without these two dating! They married and divorced while on the show, and continued to play on screen siblings even after the divorce. Awkward.
Shannon & Boone – Lost
Maggie Grace and Ian Somerhalder played step siblings on Lost. It is no surprise these two couldn’t keep their hands of each other! They were filming on a tropical island paradise and in the middle of nowhere. Firstly, they are too gorgeous for words, secondly they were lost, and thirdly, they are too gorgeous for words. The end.
Ferris & Jeanie – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Matthew Broderick dated Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co star Jennifer Grey, hated each other on-screen as brother and sister, but couldn’t keep their hands off each other in their private trailers. They dated way back in 1987. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Sarah & Adam – Parenthood
Lauren Graham and her husband actor Peter Krause played brother and sister on TV drama Parenthood. Krause joked about his possible bedroom scenarios in an interview with USA Today saying ‘I hope mom and dad don’t come in.’ Ewww, now I find that not right at all.
When you think about it, it’s only weird in our minds, because we are crazy fans who have trouble separating the actor from his/her character. It’s not gross, it’s quite normal, they’re acting and when they are not, they’re making out. Step back to reality folks.
