8 min read

There are all sorts of different types of weddings, each end every one beautiful in there own way. Though the expenses really do add up.

Finding quirky money saving tips to make your wedding event perfect for you without the extra stress of over-spending your dosh is the best!

1. Have a Pop-Up Wedding.

“For about $2000 with 30 guests they do everything for you, even your hair, make-up and celebrant. It is all canapes/cocktail instead of a sit-down dinner.  They are actually quite beautiful, well put together and trendy.  Shorter than a traditional wedding but looks like fun and stress-free.”

2. Go the Registry Office

‘My brother got married in the registry office, it was beautiful and we went out for lunch afterwards.’Simple and intimate, not all weddings have to be a huge event. For some couples getting married in the registry office is perfectly enough for both parties.

3. Don’t Do Wedding Favors

“Save yourself the money because honestly, people hate having to take those crappy candles, sugared almonds or whatever other ‘creative’ thing home.  Put a bit more effort into the place cards instead and people can take them home as souvenirs if they choose to.  If not, they go straight into the recycling bin.”

4. Elope and Have a Holiday

“My Father in Law offered us $10,000 to elope rather than have a big wedding.  With my parents being divorced, it was just the easiest thing to do.  We had a magnificent holiday and came back married.”

6. Let The Florist Have Their Own Creative Flair

7. We Got Married in Our Back Yard

“We’re getting married in our back yard.  I’m getting my dress made, it is inspired by an extremely expensive one, but it’s worked out less than $800 to have it made from scratch by a local dressmaker.  I’m not having a bridal party, just my two daughters and my sister and my fiancee’s mate will just come and sign the paperwork.  We did book an expensive photographer but I think it’s just worth it.  No one is getting a ‘favor’.  I’m paying for the meal and the booze, so that’s favor enough.”
