5 Ways to Make a Home (DIY) Pregnancy Test
There are many many reasons women over hundreds of years have been making their own type of DIY pregnancy test at home. Maybe the live rurally and don’t have access to a pharmacy, maybe they are young and too embarrassed to buy one. The reasons vary.
These are the 5 different types of pregnancy test you can make at home – sourced from the internet (so it must be true lol).
1. Pee in a Jar!
This one is the easiest one to try and it actually it’s proven to work. So to start off with find a clean jar or cup to pee into. Leave it for at least 24 hours at room temperature and somewhere it won’t be disturbed. After this time if you are pregnant there will be a white layer floating on top of the urine and the urine will be lighter in colour. No change means not preggers. Bummer, keep having sex!
2. Mix with sugar
This one needs to be done when your first wake up because your urine will be more potent for more accurate results. By putting a couple of spoonfuls of sugar into a bowl with a mixture of urine, the sugar will either dissolve or clump together. If you are pregnant the sugar will clump together!
3. Make a soapy mixture
The hormones in urine can make a reaction with the chemicals used in soap! So using a new bar of soap use a small amount and put it in a container with urine, watch to see if the soap hisses or begins to bubble, if so you may well be pregnant. If you aren’t pregnant there shouldn’t be any reaction on top of the bar of soap.
4. Use Toothpaste
Every household has toothpaste so try using it with a small amount and a mixture of urine. If the toothpaste begins to foam, bubble or turn a blue like colour you may be pregnant. If the mixture is left for along period of time the mixture will begin to foam regardless of you aren’t pregnant either so keep an eye on the time.
5. Bleach it!
With a portion of urine in a container add the same amount of household bleach to the mixture. If you are pregnant it will begin to foam and fizzle! If you aren’t pregnant there may only be a slight reaction between the two liquids so watch for a strong fizzle and foam.
