A scorned Queensland mother who was told that breastfeeding was ‘unhygienic’ by staff at Kmart has taken her complaint global.
Whitley Magnussen from Rochhampton, blasted the retail giant on Facebook after staff members told her to leave an empty change room for breastfeeding her six-month-old daughter.
According to Ms Magnussen, she was told by two female staff members that “it was unhygienic and wrong’ to breastfeed in a fitting room.
“(They told me) if they had known my intentions they would’ve refused entry to me,” Ms Magnussen wrote on Tuesday.
“I explained to them both that it’s my legal right to breastfeed wherever I want however both of the staff members were quick to jump down my throat with reasons why I shouldn’t do it.”

The angered mother posted this message on the official Kmart Facebook page on Tuesday night and it now been shared more than 100 times by readers.
Kmart were quick to respond, apologising for ‘her experience’ and asking Ms Magnussen to contact them directly and expect to launch an investigation into the incident, The Daily Mail reported.
Many fellow Facebook users were quick to react to the young mother’s post, saying the retail giant ‘should be ashamed’ and have ‘lost loyal customers.’
