Where to Hire a Baby Capsule

Baby Capsules are proven to be the safest transport for babies under six months old – but they cost a bomb and then you have to go and buy a car seat (although most car seats do suit newborns as well). Most families hire baby capsules these days as a much cheaper alternative and, as an added bonus, you don’t have a big bulky capsule taking up space in storage waiting for the next baby to come along!

New South Wales

Rock-A-Bye Baby Equipment Hire have capsule hire available from $70 for six months for a Safe N Sound Capsule and go up to $165 for six months for a Safety First One Safe Capsule (which has a 5 star safety rating).

Victoria

You can opt to go through a private baby capsule hire company that offers certain products at competitive rates, such as Anything Baby or Kids N Cars, or contact your local council as some provide baby capsule hire services. Private hire companies start from around $15-$20 for one day, up to $120 for a 6 month period.

Western Australia

Many options for baby capsule hire can be found through the Kidsafe WA website. They offer a range of time periods to hire equipment, ranging from short term hire of 1 week for $25 up to 7-12 months at $10/month. They also offer checking and fitting restraint services from around $15-$30 and offer restraint advice free of charge.

South Australia

Red Cross SA provides qualified fitting services and sell and hire child restraints from birth up to booster seats. Prices start from $35 for one week up to $91 for six months. They also hire carrier pouches, portacots, high chairs, strollers and breast pumps.

Tasmania

Babysafe Tasmania offers a large range of baby equipment to hire, and specialise in baby capsules. Prices start at $35 and they offer a gift voucher service for a great baby shower gift idea. Other private hire stores include Bubs On Board and Hire For Baby.

Northern Territory

Just like WA, the NT has KidsafeNT, who offer services in checking and fitting restraints, hiring and selling baby capsules and providing advice to parents. There fitting and checking prices range from $15-$30, and their hire charges range from $30 for one week to $100 for 6 months.

ACT

KidsafeACT is the main hub of the Kidsafe empire, so it makes sense they are the go-to guys for baby capsule hire in the ACT. They offer a huge range of baby and child equipment, from portacots to strollers, and you are guaranteed they are safe for your little one by reputation alone. Keep aside $20 for a weeks hire, and up to $85 for 6 months, and they offer a free extension service if you need the capsule after 6 months.

When hiring a baby capsule, make sure it carries the Australian Standard AS 1754 label and that it will be suitable for your vehicle, especially if you have a small or older model car.
