10 Fun Water Play Activities

6. Ice Blocks

Make different ice blocks by simply adding a little bit of food dye to your water-filled ice cube trays. Or, pour in juice, cordial or yoghurt for a tasty summer treat.

7. Wet Painting

Rather than risk the mess by using real paint, let your children get creative and use their imaginations by giving them a bucket of water and some different paint brushes. Let them paint the fence, the car, the cubby house.

8. Water the Garden

Keep the kids entertained and give the garden some much needed water by filling out your watering cans and letting the kids do the watering.

9. Floating Boats

Make your own boats with large leaves and sticks or pick up a pack of cheap bath boat toys. Race the boats in the bathtub, paddling pool or creek if you have one nearby.

10. Water Tea Party

Finally, take your traditional tea party up a notch by filling up the kettle with water and letting your child serve water to each guest. Sure, she may spill some of the ‘tea’ on the floor, but it’s all in good fun!

One other thing to remember when it comes to outdoor water play is that there may be water restrictions in place. Check your local council’s website to find out if this is the case and when you are able to use the hose or other water utensils around the yard.
