Keep the Christmas spirit alive by being able to prove to your kids that Santa exists!
Are your kids having a hard time believing in Santa? Christmas is a lot more fun when everyone in the household is a believer, which means, it will take some convincing ‘white lies’ to keep your older kids on board.
Below are some suggestions on proving that Santa does exist, even to the most sceptical kids out there.
Listen for Santa’s Sleigh
One of the hardest things for kids to believe is that Santa’s mode of transportation is a flying sleigh. So, make them a little less sceptical by letting them hear the sleigh’s bells. On Christmas Eve, once the kids are tucked into bed, have one parent go outside and ring some jingle bells. Make sure the other parent is in the bedroom to tell the kids to listen for the Sleigh bells.
Put Out Cookies
This is a great Christmas tradition. On Christmas Eve, before they go to bed, have them put out some special cookies for Santa as well as a handwritten note. And don’t forget the carrots for the reindeer. Once they are asleep, help yourself to the cookies and carrots but make sure you leave some crumbs on the plate so your kids know Santa enjoyed the treat.
Contact Santa on the Phone
Program Santa’s phone number into your speed dial and have them contact Santa on the telephone if they are having a hard time believing. However, make sure they phone at a certain time, as Santa is busy most of the day working in his workshop. Let your father or father-in-law know that he will be playing Santa at a certain time of the day and may receive a phone call.
Send Santa a Letter
During the month of December, you can also get your kids to send Santa a letter telling them about the various things they want for Christmas. Perhaps, Santa could even send a letter back to them. Just make sure to address the letter from the North Pole and change your handwriting.
Track Santa Online
Take advantage of GPS by tracking Santa’s journey online. From December 1st onward, you can track Santa’s journey across the world at noradsanta.org. Take that non-believers; if it’s on the internet, then it has to be real right?
Use the Elf on the Shelf
Another fun way to keep the Christmas spirit alive in your house is to invest in The Elf on the Shelf book. This is a children’s book that comes with a small toy elf. Read the story to your kids, which explains how an elf will live in your house and return to the North Pole every night to report to Santa if they’ve been naughty or nice.
Move the elf to different places in your house every night so that the kids will find him somewhere new in the morning. This is a great game to not only keep the spirit alive, but to keep your kids on the nice list as well.
Hide the Evidence
You can also do your part by keeping the Christmas presents alive as well by hiding the Christmas gifts, wrapping paper, etc from out of sight. Check out our list of the Best Hiding Places for Christmas Presents, which includes at the office, at a friend’s house or in your storage unit. Make sure you also keep the wrapping paper out of sight from the sneaky kids.
Hopefully, with the above tips, you can turn those non-believers right around and keep the spirit going, at least for a couple more years!
