But if you are sick of the same old boring hotels that seem to blend into one another and are wanting a hotel stay that has some personality and spunk, then check these out. Not only are they boutique and unique, but they are also all centrally located in the Sydney CBD and are priced the same as other more boring hotels in the area.
These are the Best Places for a Dirty Weekend in Sydney!
Now if you are totally impatient – we have a quick look list for you before explaining what we love about these hotels!
1. The QT Sydney (5 Stars)
- 5 Star Hotel
- Hotel Rating: 9.6 (Exceptional)
- 49 Market Street, Sydney CBD
- Pricing: Set dates for accurate pricing
If you are having a Dirty Weekend in Sydney – then the QT is pretty much the best place to stay! Located just across the road from the Pitt Street Mall, you are merely steps away from the best shopping in Sydney! I really love the QT Sydney (the one on the Gold Coast is pretty dreamy as well!). As far as unique hotels go, this one is truly one of a kind! The rooms make you feel like you are in a warm cocoon of velvet. So it is the ultimate place to go for a dirty weekend in Sydney.
Every aspect of the rooms has been painstakingly thought out and tweaked to make it inviting. Perfect for a romantic getaway where you want to hide from the world.. and only come out when you choose to.
Best Bit of the QT Sydney:
The QT Gel Dream Beds! You haven’t slept until you have been on one of these amazing beds! Yes, they are only on the upper floors and are a little bit more expensive, but they are a dream. The QT Sydney is also in the perfect location – walkable to all the best parts of old Sydney.
Worst Bit About the QT Sydney:
The QT can be a bit tricky to find for the first time as the hotel reception is up on the second floor. Look for the French girls out front who will direct you up there.
Why it is Great for a Dirty Weekend Away?
The QT is so decadent and rich – it is like being in your own world! It truly is the most perfect place for a dirty weekend. There is no other hotel like it. Sure, it is pricey – but for the ultimate dirty weekend – it is perhaps one of the very best!
2. The Langham Hotel Sydney
- 5 Star Hotel
- 89-113 Kent Street, Millers Point NSW
- Old School Luxury Hotel
The Langham is like stepping back into time, but with all the creature comforts of modern today. The Langham is located in The Rocks district – so is full of cobbled streets and beautiful old buildings – I think it is the most romantic part of Sydney!. The hotel itself is classy and decadent without feeling intimidatingly pompous. The hotel rooms at The Langham Sydney are fresh and bright, but still deliciously romantic for a dirty weekend!
Best Bit About The Langham Sydney:
Located in the heart of The Rocks district, wander the streets of the oldest part of Australia!
Worst Bit About The Langham:
Even though The Langham is close to the harbour, it is still a bit of a hike to the shopping district. But still within walking distance. Probably aimed at more of an older demographic – but older people need dirty weekends too!
Why it is great for a dirty weekend?
Because the place feels so classy and special. You won’t feel quite so dirty!
3. The Four Seasons Hotel (5 Stars)
Location: 199 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000
The Four Seasons Hotel is really old-school class. The views are absolutely breathtaking – and it is certainly worth spending a few extra dollars to get the harbour view from your room. And can I just say – the marble bathrooms are decadent! If you are into old-world charm, fantastic food, fancy linen and soaking in bubbles sipping champers – you won’t beat The Four Seasons Hotel.
Best Bit About The Four Seasons Hotel:
The view of the harbour from your hotel room is just out of this world!
Worst Bit About The Four Seasons Hotel:
The rooms aren’t exactly spacious… so great for perhaps a night or two – but if you are staying longer than that it can be a little claustrophobic!
4. The Shangri-La Hotel (5 Stars)
Location: 176 Cumberland Street, The Rocks NSW
The Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney has been a favourite hotel for wedding nights for decades. It is a beautiful old-school hotel with gorgeous marble bathrooms, a nice view and comfy beds. Not quite as flash rooms as The Four Seasons – but located in a much nicer spot (in my opinion)
Best Bit About the Shangri-La Hotel:
The view from the Harbourside rooms is incredible. See the whole Sydney harbour, the bridge and the Opera House – so close you can nearly touch it.
Worst Bit About the Shangri-La Hotel:
If you are walking from the train station, it is an uphill hike to get there! Also, check-in is 3pm – most hotels are 2pm – that’s a bit of a pain in the arse!
5. Ovolo Woolloomooloo (5 Stars)
Location: 6 Cowper Wharf Roadway, Woolloomooloo NSW
I haven’t had a chance to stay at the Ovolo Woolloomooloo yet – so I’m purely judging this hotel from what friends have told me – and how the rooms look on the internet (one word – divine!). If you work there – feel free to send me there for a free night huh! I love the bold hotel rooms – certainly different from the ‘traditional hotel’ experience.
Best Bit about The Ovolo Woolloomooloo:
The rooms are just amazing. Vibrant, different, romantic! This is the only one of the seven hotels I actually haven’t stayed at yet – but am desperate to!
Worst Bit About the Ovolo Woolloomooloo:
There are two Ovolo hotels in Sydney (don’t mix them up!) – this one is a bit of a walk into the Sydney CBD. Apart from that I really can’t fault it. It’s the perfect hotel for a dirty weekend in Sydney!
6. InterContinental Sydney (5 Stars)
Location: 117 Macquarie Street, Sydney 2000
Now the InterContinential Sydney is what I’m talking about when I’m talking about swanky. It is pure decadence the whole way. From stepping into the front foyer to room service – it is just class, class class!
Best Bit about the InterContinental Hotel Sydney:
This is a hotel that really feels SWANKY! It would be perfect for a dirty weekend in Sydney, or if you are just celebrating an anniversary or even a wedding night. Everything about the hotel screams THIS COST A LOT!
Worst Bit:
It does cost a lot. But hey – if you are having a dirty weekend in Sydney – you may as well ‘Go hard or go home’ – literally! Oh and this is where Michael Hutchence died.
7. The Pier One Sydney Harbour (5 Stars)
Location: 11 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, NSW
Best Bit About Pier One Sydney Harbour:
A luxury hotel that is DOG FRIENDLY!!! So you can take your best friend with you! It is right on the harbour and the views are amazing!
Worst Bit:
It is a bit of a walk into the inner CBD.
So if you are looking at booking a dirty weekend in Sydney – I highly recommend these hotels. As a person who travels a lot, hotel rooms seem to just blend together after a while, but these hotels offer something a bit different which makes them memorable.
