9. Be Patient With Intimacy
Intimacy following the birth of a baby is always a tricky subject. Mums are getting used to new bodies, new responsibilities and new lives, and it can often be a lot to handle. Around six weeks after birth, mums usually get the all clear from their doctor to start having sex, but that doesn’t mean they want to. When mums are regularly breastfeeding, constantly being touched can be exhausting, and put a pin in any intimacy. Be patient, and don’t push.
10. Encourage
Breastfeeding can be such a difficult time for mums, but it can also be so rewarding. One of the things that helps to bring it from one side to another is a partner’s attitude. Being there for your partner, encouraging her when she feels like she isn’t getting it right, and helping her work through issues are all key in a successful breastfeeding period. An encouraging nature really can make such a difference.
