3. Provide Water and Food
Mums don’t always realise how much food and water is required to maintain the breastfeeding schedule of a small child. That’s why it’s so important for dads to encourage mums to get enough good healthy food into their system, and to drink a lot of water. Help out by bringing small platter of foods to your partner when she has time to eat, and by making sure she always has water nearby.
4. Encourage Rest
Breastfeeding can take quite a bit out of a mum when it comes to energy, and being sleep-deprived and exhausted is only going to make the process more difficult. So dads can step in by encouraging mum to rest as much as possible, particularly in the early days when there is a lot of adjusting to do. Whenever possible, encourage your partner to rest and ensure she has access to a space that makes that possible.
