Believe it or not, these pampered pooches not only live large, but are richer than you and me combined!
For most of us who are active in Instagram and other social media, we can attest to the fact that most celebrities completely adore their pets and more so their dogs. Given any slight opportunity, we would gladly trade places with these pampered pooches.
Where these celebrities are, most certainly you will also find these dogs. Apparently, these celebrity dogs enjoy the same lifestyles their owners lead. They ride on private jets and walking the same streets in downtown Los Angeles, where most celebrities love to hang around.
To say that the rich and famous adore their pets, especially dogs would be an understatement. Given the fact that celebrities have loads of cash to throw around, these dogs are not only loved by their owners, but they also live really large. Celebrities love their dogs just as much they love themselves.
1. Karlotta Liebenstan and dog, Gunther VI
A case in point is a dog named Gunther VI. This German Shepherd is perhaps the most pampered and the richest dog in the world. Its net worth is $372 million, which it inherited from its wealthy owner, Karlotta Liebenstan, a German countess and multi-millionaire. When she died sometime back in 1992, she reportedly left all her fortune, which at that time stood at $124 million. The dog also owns an imposing mansion in Miami which once belonged to pop star Madonna. His everyday menu includes steak and caviar, with a personal maid and butler who take care his needs. He also has a chauffeur and spends most of his time wallowing beside a customised swimming pool.
2. Paris Hilton and dog, Tinkerbell
Then there is hotel heiress, Paris Hilton. She’s known to own a number of dogs that reside in a luxury dog house in Hollywood Hills complete with leather chairs, deluxe beds, chandeliers and a balcony for better viewing. In the early 2000s, when she was at the peak of her career, we all saw her dragging her pet dog, Tinkerbell on red carpets and parties. Somebody whispers to me that the tag price of this trophy dog is worth some 13 grand.
3. Leona Helmsey and dog, Trouble
We all love our pets in our own ways, but some celebrity pet owners have taken this to a whole new level. Take the case of Leona Helmsley, aka ‘the Queen of Mean’. The owner of American Helmsley hotel chains, who was involved in a mega income tax scandal, also owned a dog called ‘Trouble’. She was famous for her quick temper but truly loved her dog. When she passed away at the age of 87, she left ‘Trouble’ some $12 million, completely cutting off her two grandchildren. The inheritance included an annual $100K full-time security, $8K for grooming, $1.2K for food, while the pooch’s trainer salary was some $60K.
However, the dog earned the dubious tag of the “most hated dog” in the world. I’m not sure whether this is true, it was alleged that the spoilt dog exhibited her mistress’s foul moods and actually developed biting skills, gnarling at any lesser mortals around her.
4. Eleanor Ritchey
Eleanor Ritchey and her Quaker State Refining Corporation thrived in the ’60s and when she died in 1968, she helped redefine the term ‘eccentric heir/heirless’. She left her entire $12 million trust fund to take care of over 150 dogs she had rescued from the streets. As a young lass, Eleanor was not only lonely but had little regard for social life. Only one person was close to her heart her mother and when she died, she became devastated. For comfort, she turned to dog’s companionship. True to her wishes, the funds took care of her companions to the last dog. The leftover of the hefty trust was redirected to the Auburn University Research Fund to help in the research of animal diseases.
