How To Clean Sliding Doors and Window Tracks

When it comes to cleaning, sliding door and window tracks these are really hard to reach places.

Unfortunately, your vacuum does not come with a tiny, skinny ridge-back brush attachment (well if it does send me the name of it please!) so when the time comes to clean the tracks a bit of ingenuity is required.

I know, I know you’re all thinking surely there are better things to do than clean door tracks? Or life’s too short to worry about EVERY piece of dirt, right? But inevitably there will come a time where it needs to be done thoroughly. You may be moving house, have a rental inspection or perhaps just one too many flies kicked the bucket in there – either way it needs to be cleaned!

Give these ideas a go and you’ll have sparkling tracks in no time:

• Use the screwdriver and old sock method. Place the screwdriver into the sock and clean by pushing the pointy end into all the hard to reach places. Using a bit of moisture may assist with caked on areas.
• Use a dry toothbrush to loosen everything up and then put the pointy end of the vacuum in. For even more efficiency, use an electric toothbrush. Just keep aside the dedicated cleaning brush head!

• If the tracks are outside the house use the hose nozzle combined with the hardest sprayer setting you have. A toothbrush or paintbrush may come in handy here too.
• Try cotton buds. The baby ones are best as they are fatter, use damp ones for built up dirt.
• Try a paintbrush and the pointy vacuum nozzle which depending on the type of tracks you have, may be more effective.

While you are there, you may as well give the glass a once over, cleaning cloths are a miracle product that can easily get any grime off your windows. Cleaning cloths are a micro-fibre 2 cloth wet and dry cleaning system, delivering a streak-free shine! The first cloth used wet will remove grime, while the second cloth used dry will buff and shine, giving you the streak-free finish! This has got to be one of the easiest ways to clean your windows and glass doors.
