Justin Timberlake is one hell of a musician, with nine Grammys and Billboard topping albums up his sleeve.
But don’t let him write your late night show’s theme song. Ever.
Apparently, JT hasn’t been schooled on the etiquette of re-gifting.
Why do we think so? Well, he recently pitched a new theme song for Seth Meyer’s Late Night Show and it didn’t go quite as well as he may have hoped for. His song goes:
“When you’re looking for fun on your TV, just switch it on over to NBC / And catch the show that’s down and dirty, on every night at eleven-thirty / Hosted by your number one guy, it’s J to the I to the M-M-Y”
Imagine the horror on Seth’s face when he heard it! But Justin attempted a few more pitches, including one meant for Stephen Colbert and another one for Charlie Rose. His last song had been initially rejected by John Oliver then by James Corden then by Oliver again.
Needless to say, none of them struck a chord with Seth.
“So, real quick, which one do you want?” JT asks.
“Uh…none of them,” Seth says as cordially as he can.
