When it comes to parenting, even the stars have to sometimes ask ‘Who’s the boss?’
1. Ignorance Is Bliss
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi prefers to ignore the dramatics:
“I literally just walk into the kitchen, ignore them”¦ and then they come over and they say, ‘I’m okay now.’ I’m at the stage of parenthood right now where I just need to stop entertaining them. The more you pay attention to that kind of behaviour, the worse it gets.”
The mum-of-two also revealed that she’s not down with smacking her kids, either. I like to do this too, it even works most of the time!
2. The Hands-Off Approach
Kirstie Alley has never smacked either:
“I have amazing children. I wouldn’t dream of solving ANY situation with them by ‘swatting’ or spanking them…I was POPPED a lot…doesn’t work.”
Alley voiced her opinion on spanking on Twitter a few years ago, and needless to say, she isn’t a fan of the way her parents chose to discipline. Wonder if she ignores the tantrums too?
3. Agree To Disagree?
Jada Pinkett and Will Smith prefer to try for an agreement:
“We don’t have rules. We come up with agreements. Kids are little people, and we’re in life to guide them. Trying to rule someone is always an illusion, and it’s no different with children.”
This would be great if I had more time, like 72 hours a day, you know how long a conversation like this can end up with a five-year-old? Maybe one day in the future.
4. Handing It Out
Kate Gosselin has defended her choice to smack her kids:
“I love my children and when they misbehave, I discipline them as I deem appropriate for the situation.”
Each to their own. Love that she owns it.
