These Mini Paper Christmas Trees are so cute and really easy to make. Add to your Christmas decorations without it costing you a fortune.
You will need-
- Hot glue gun
- Wooden skewer approx. 6″ long
- Wooden cotton spool or small glass candle holder
- Various shades of green coloured card
- Glass bead for top
- For larger trees you will need to cut 5 circles out of your card in various sizes. We have used 2,3,4,5 and 6 inch circles. For smaller trees omit the 6 inch circle.
- Fold each circle in half and then into quarters and press crease firmly. Open card and turn card ¼ turn and fold in quarters again pressing firmly after each fold. You will need to do this two more times until each quarter of the circle has 3 folds and 4 sections. Once you have completed all the folds you need to make sure they are creased the right way. Sort of like when you were a kid and you made paper fans.
- Snip a small hole in the top end of each folded circle. Place the smallest circle on the pointed end of the wooden skewer and let the tip poke through about ½ cm. With the hot glue gun dab a small amount of glue under the circle where the card and skewer meet. Hold until glue is set.
- Working one at a time from smallest to largest slide the remaining circles onto the skewer leaving approx. 1 to 1 ½ inches in between the circles securing with glue each time.
- Insert bottom of skewer into spool or onto the candle holder and cut to desired height. We cut ours to 6″. Hot glue into place and hold until glue is set.
- Add a dot of glue to top of the skewer and attach a glass bead.
- If you can’t find any wooden cotton spools you could use florist foam in a candle holder or very small pot.
- We worked from the top of tree down but if you like you could start at bottom and work up. You just need to secure with glue either under or on top of card.
