We’ve now got a fairly extensive ‘What gifts to buy’ section on the Stay at Home Mum website…. but not many home made Christmas Gifts for Dad! Dad’s are important – and it’s easy to make something special for him at home, on a budget!

- 1 cup skim powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and transfer to your jar. Seal well!
Mocha:
- 1/2 cup good instant coffee
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1/4 cup good drinking chocolate mix
- 1 cup skim powedered milk
Use the instructions as per the cappuccino mix. Stir in one tablespoon of mix to 3/4 cup boiling water.
Homemade Christmas Treats
Most Dad’s I know have a bit of a sweet tooth (not that they’d like to admit it!). What about making Dad some homemade Christmas Treats!
Things like:
- Rum Balls
- Apricot Balls
- Chocolate Fudge slice
- Traditional Shortbread
- Candied Popcorn
Arranged on a plate just for Dad – it will be a winner!
A Dessert Coupon Book
Hmmm more on Dad’s having a sweet tooth – I know my Dad LOVES dessert – but doesn’t get it very often! Make up a coupon book of his favourite desserts (check out the dessert section of the website for some ideas). Of course he’ll need to give you a day’s notice or so and best of all, everyone gets to enjoy it! He has a year to redeem all his desserts!!!
A Hand Printed Poem
Buy a cheap canvas or picture frame with some white cardboard, get some paint and press your child/children’s hand print into the middle of the frame. If your child is old enough to write, include the following poem:
“Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But everyday I’m growing big
And soon I’ll be very tall
Then all my little hand prints
Will be hard to recall
So here’s a special hand print
Just so that you can say
this is how my fingers looked
when I placed them here today.”
