This Centre Swirl Braid is sure to impress and is simple enough for school and fancy enough for a special occasion.
Step 1: Part the front of the hair over the left eyebrow approximately 10 – 15 centimetres back towards the crown of the hair.

Leave each side of the part out and gather the rest of the hair at the back of the head into a ponytail. Secure with a tie of any colour, you wont see this when you’re finished.
Step 2: Using the braiding techniques learnt in Basic Hair Braiding, braid the left side of the hair right to the bottom and secure with a clip or tie.
Take from the left side of the hair and gather small amounts from the ponytail on the right hand side, until you reach the base of the hairline.
Step 3: Using the loose hair on the right hand side of the head, repeat Step 2 on the other side of the head.
This time gather from the right hand side of the hairline for the right hand side of the braid and pick up small amounts from the centre pony tail for the left hand side. Continue until you reach the base of the hairline.
Step 4: Pull the braid from the left and the braid from the right and bring them into the middle of the head to make a ponytail.
Using your own judgement, split the hair into three and wind into a basic plait to finish.
OPTIONAL: You can also hide the ponytail underneath the braids to create a clean spiral bun!
