Dead Algae
Did you ever have a fish tank as a kid, and constantly find yourself having to clean up that weird green scum that collected on the surface and made everything slimy? Turns out you could have just rubbed it on your face! Well kinda. Actually, fossilised dead seaweed is found in many common cosmetic products under the title of diatomaceous earth. This particular type of dead algae is celebrated by human beings (even if you didn’t realise you were using it) for its abrasive nature, and is therefore found in many exfoliating body scrubs, facial scrubs and pimple treatments.
